Birthday boy handed referral order

A Warrington teenager admitted to dealing cannabis to his friends to fund his own habit to magistrates court on the day of his 16th birthday.

Magistrates heard how police raided the un-named teenager's home on July 16th and found 33 grammes of cannabis and a set of scales in a safe.

Magistrates said "We're very concerned about a situation where a 15-year-old is so determined to have sufficient money to feed his own habit, he's willing to undertake a commercial set-up involving friends".

The teenager was sentenced to an eight month referral order, during which he and a panel will draw up a good behaviour contract. He must also pay court costs.
