Internet

You're already pretty internet savvy (otherwise you probably wouldn’t be reading this) but safety on the web is essential.

You might think nothing of posting pictures and your details on facebook, but once you put that out there who knows where it is? Who knows how many people have hold of your profile even if you don’t add them.

Social Networking

We're not going to stop you social networking and we are conscious of the positive effects it can have, but you must be aware of the downsides; before you put that picture of you and your mates on Facebook think 'Would I want this passed around at dinner?'. Before you get on Twitter and rant about the argument you had with your boyfriend think 'Would I write this down and hand it out to everyone I know?'. If the answer to those questions is 'no', then keep it to yourself.

Don't meet up with anyone you've met online unless you're accompanied by an adult, it's so easy to lie on the internet and people may not always be who they seem…

If you're worried about a mate (maybe they're meeting someone or maybe they have a strange status update) give them a ring and make sure they're ok. If they don't want to speak to you and you feel there is something up then speak to their parents.
